@hoary pebble I don't really get how someone could be on a 2 weeks trial before a higher price while keeping the same billing cycle. That doesn't really make sense to me

customer starts an "base" annual plan $999/yr on Jan 1. On Nov 1, they start a free trial of a "premium" plan. They decide that they don't want to renew on the "premium" plan. Trial ends and we maintain the renewal date for their "base" annual plan as Jan 1.

ideally, we keep the Jan 1. renewal date and prorate the difference between "base" and "premium" at the end of the trial

Then my advice is to handle that trial period in your own system and not in Stripe in any way honestly. Way easier

roger. seems the stripe trial period was mostly designed to cover a time period before the customer would be charged. But it does work for already-paid subscriptions (i.e. mid-subscription trial without changing billing cycles)
