i created a payment using paymentintent with payment method as sepa. it returned a status as processing.the docs said that i will get the status as success or failure after a few days. Will this status be passed to the url i mentioned as return_url while creating paymentintent

no, it will be sent to your webhook endpoint, not the return_url.
