thing is, it's not unlocked - it's a (almost brand new) pixel 7a, never been unlocked
i recently trialled the android 14 beta, but i'm now back on the 14 stable release so I don't think that's it

Our system is detecting that it's unlocked, so the only way to proceed is to get it locked or use another device.

Open your phone's dialer, type in *#*#7378423#*#*, in the window that appears go into the service info and configuration and see if the bootloader is unlocked or not.

doesn't seem to work, the code disappears but no window appears
i don't get a "bootloader unlocked" warning on boot (which is something pixels do)
i could try booting to fastboot to check?
