flat amount
just wanted to confirm it first wether it is possible or not?
AFAIK the flat amount will be prorated whereas the usage records won't
so if I have two metered price , for example $10 per unit per month and $20 per unit per month. How will the billing look if I upgrade at mid of the billing cycle ?
so if at the time of subscription upgradation if usage was , for example 5 units, customer will be billed (5 X 10 ) / 2 = $25 and at the end of billing if usage was 10 units then one more invoice will generated of amount ( 10 X 20) / 2 = $100. Is my understanding correct ?
divided by 2 because upgradation happened in the mid of billing cycle
I don't think proration happens on the usage records
so is there any way to have subscription upgrade/downgrade handling in case of metered usage subscription?
I stand corrected: no. Prorations are not generated for metered subscription updates because they’re billed at the end of the period, not at the start like with licensed subscriptions. We do not differentiate between usage that was reported for the old price from usage that was reported after the subscription item was updated to the new price.
meaning that if you upgrade mid-cycle then all reported usage records are considered to be billed at the end of the month with the new price
