Hmmm, that's a complicated question. Let me dig in a bit and circle back in a few

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hopping in here to help!

Quick question - when you say "resets on the calendar year quarter starts", can you give me some more details about what this means? Do you switch to a quarterly price at that point, or do you stay on the yearly one?

we want to reset the billing cycle to line up with the quarterly dates

Switching to a quarterly plan and reseting the billing start date so that they occur at the beginning of calendar year quarters

Gotcha!

#

So as you've already mentioned, by default subscription schedules will charge for a full cycle up front and then prorate credit back when transitioning out of the phase if it ends early (like your use case of the phase from 9/10/24 - 10/1/24 ending before the natural cycle end of 12/20/24).

While we don't have any public APIs that change this behavior, we do have a beta that would support what you're trying to model. Next step would be write into support (https://support.stripe.com/contact) so they can get you in touch with the right people and see if they can get this behavior enabled for you

We would have to discuss if all parties would be ok with using a product in beta. I.e. not totally up to me! ๐Ÿ˜

Just to be 100% sure we are all on the same page here. This is the scenario we were testing

Yup! Right now the above screenshot would charge a full quarter on September 26 2024, and then credit back some amount of unused time on October 1 2024. From then on it would charge quarterly

#

And yeah, definitely fair that you'll want all parties in agreement. If you've got any specific questions about the beta/any concerns from who you're working with then support should be able to help out there as well

Awesome! I appreciate the help

would this be a feature toggle for just this one beta feature? Or would be need to opt into a beta release of the api

#

Curious what it would look like once this feature gets released publicly also

These are all questions you should talk to support about ๐Ÿ™‚ - they'll have more specifics on what this specific beta entails since the answers vary by beta
