I don't know anything about "revenue recognition" if that's what you mean. But for whether an Event or proration is done, that's easy to test and see exactly

well if I do it via dashboard, it shows if you pro-rate or not the billing cycle resets but it doesnt give a good indication if there is proration or not

Seems like to prevent proration you do need to set proration behavior to none

yes that's how proration always work: https://stripe.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/prorations
And correct no deleted Event, because the Subscription is not deleted
