Hi there 👋 the setting you're referring to is the one that sends emails when Invoice payments fail because they require additional customer authentication, like 3DS. Those emails are intended to bring the customer back on session so they can complete the authentication.

You instead want to look at the settings in the Manage invoices sent to customers section, which has the settings for when invoices are sent to customers to be paid (rather than them being paid automatically).

So would I need to enable Send reminders if a recurring invoice hasn't been paid? Anf if that is correct, will setting it to when it is due send to customers on charge_automatically as well?

You should enable that if you want to enable reminder functionality for unpaid invoices, but the toggle above it, for sending finalized invoices, is the one that controls sending the initial email when the Invoice is finalized. I don't believe those settings apply to Invoices created by Subscriptions which are set to charge_automatically.

is there any way to test the emails in test mode? The setting you are referring to is already enabled for our stripe account, however these are only applicable in live mode. When I tested in test mode, the email was only sent when I manually sent the email via the dashboard

I'm not too familiar with the email functionality (we primarily focus on helping with the API in this forum), but my understanding is that most emails are suppressed in test mode. I'm not sure when it works, but I've heard if the recipient email address exactly matches the email address of the owner of the stripe account, then some test emails work.
