👋 happy to help
Hi Tarzan, thanks!
it really depends on the type of Connect Account you're going to use and how much development effort you're willing to put and so on
We are currentlty on Stripe standard, but in the future might move to custom. We are currently using the hosted onboarding for both
large businesses that wants to do a fully custom onboarding experience would opt for Custom Accounts
How are they capable of building rebuilding the hosting onboarding, it seems like there is quite some decisioning going on in that flow
(this is especially hard for us since we are targetting merchants world wide)
if you have specific feedback that can improve the onboarding process for you/your merchants don't hesitate to contact https://support.stripe.com/?contact=true and submit that feedback, that might be a common pain point and we might add it to our roadmap
Find help and support for Stripe. Our support site provides answers on all types of situations, including account information, charges and refunds, and subscriptions information. Get your questions answered and find international support for Stripe.
Thanks, we did before via our contact person as well. Just wondering how it would work in general with the Stripe API. Are they actively using currently_due or are they even building flows for all regulations out there (replicating what Stripe did with their hosted onboarding).
that being said, we are stating a new initiative called Connect embedded components that you can learn more about here https://stripe.com/docs/connect/get-started-connect-embedded-components
which is the equivalent of Payment Elements as opposed to the hosted Checkout
That's interesting! We were already looking at embedded components for non-onboarding things
there's a room to grow there, but also bear in mind that this won't be a fully customizable experience
and you will still need to keep your KYCs updated
and that's something you can't really escape from
when using Custom Accounts
Yes, indeed. Thanks for this already!
As an example, we are currently looking into how we can improve the business structure question. Adding a bit more context to the question for merchants.
it's hard to find/create a list ourselves with all options based on the chosen business type for every country out there.
For example, these examples only have limited countries https://stripe.com/docs/connect/identity-verification#business-structure
I think this is why opting for Standard (especially if you want Direct Charges) would be the best option
otherwise you can also leverage Express Accounts which is easier to setup
We see merchants are not completing the stripe onboarding, that's why we are trying to asks some question in advance (like business type) in our own words and platform. But the structure question is harder to build/maintain
Would you state that in general trying to rebuild (parts) of the onboarding flow is cumbersome and hard to do with a small team (startup) ?
yes it is
I got that idea as well. Thanks anyway for taking the time! We will also have a good look at the embedded onboarding components
