They also asked for a BIC/Swift code
Hi there 👋 it sounds like you're referring to accepting a Bank Transfer payment. When working with those, the type of funding instructions that are provided (iban, sort_code, aba/swift, etc) are based on the currency being accepted. Since you're seeing sort_code, it sounds like you're accepting a gbp payment. IBAN details would be provided for eur payments, but the currency that you are able to accept is directly related to the country of your Stripe account.
The flow will always generated sort_code details for your account currently, there isn't a way to provide your customer with alternative account details.
Thanks Toby.
Our customer is in the US, how would we accept a payment from them, if they require a IBAN, BIC/Swift code then?
If they are required to use an IBAN or Swift code, then I don't think you'll be able to. I would recommend having the customer reach out to their bank to see if their bank can accomadate making a transfer to an account identified by a sort code and an account number.
Okay, I'm surprised this isn't facilitated by Stripe, is there any reason why? Surely there's many people out there that require international payments to be received?
