Standard connected account can't be deleted, but it can be disconnected from the platform. Please refer to the guide for disconnecting a Standard connected account: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/platform-controls-for-standard-accounts#remove-accounts

ah ok so if I have a client ending their contract, I should just disconnect the account?

Basically I just want to deactivate or delete it so that it's not used anymore and there isn't potential security issue of just having it around without it being deactivated

Yup! Platform will not have access to the connected account after disconnection
