Subscriptions create Invoices which create PaymentIntents

PaymentIntents still manage the payment lifecyle with Subscriptions

You just don't create them directly

What is your real question though? What are you trying to do?

Yes you can do that but if you have any $0 Invoices (like a trial) there will be no PaymentIntent

The recommended Webhook event is to use customer.subscription.updated based on the status of the Subscription
