I see and is the expiration error/message the user sees happen only once they attempt to submit or will it happen while they are adding their payment details?

Also if a session has an expiration and a user cancels, will i still receive an checkout.session.expired event?

The expiration ill apprear if they left the web hangover, come back and push the button. If they ever try to load the page again, it will display expired on the page load
