No, there's no way to accept the payment and not start the subscription.

An alternative would be to accept a one-off payment for let's say the amount for the first month & then add a trial for that length when you create the subscription. That way the customer would receive services for the money that already paid for without being charged more.

Correct, it won't be linked. It's just a one-off payment (outside the subscription)
