ok, for the moment forget about the beta, that's just to get a credit card number without using it immediately for a sale. Is it possible to use an Elements form and hook up a magstripe reader to serve a input. I.e. can Elements consume a track2 scan of a magstripe reader?

I don't think so. Stripe does have some support for physical devices but only the specific devices we build and support: https://stripe.com/docs/terminal

Can you please find out? I would think it should be fairly easy to do since magstripe readers typically "attach" to the keyboard input stream so that the swipe looke like entered keys. All that would be needed would be for elements to recognize the structure of a track2 being input.
We do use terminal with some merchants, but magtripe readers are cheaper and thus more affordable for some
