Hello

hot ivy
#

yup

marsh juniper
#

Hmmm

#

So it works fine on one physical device but not the other

hot ivy
#

yes

#

I've even used other packages like expo-location to verify if I can correctly fetch the latitude and longitude coordinates. After testing, it is confirmed to work.

marsh juniper
#

Hmm then that does seem like an issue with that specific device. I think you are best off reporting what you are experiencing to our Support team via https://support.stripe.com/contact/login so that they can then work with our Terminal team to see if there is something we can do on our end for that specific type of Android device.

#

There isn't going to be much I can help with here unfortunately

May I ask if having a ROOTed device will have an impact? Because this device is a product from a Chinese OEM manufacturer, it comes pre-rooted by default.

marsh juniper
#

Hmm not sure but I can ask my colleagues to see if they know

#

Give me a min

#

Ah actually I think that is exactly it.

#

I'm seeing references in some older internal tickets that mention rooted devices aren't compatible

#

Is your other device not rooted?

#

Where it is working?

#

If so then I think you should be good to go here

#

And just don't have whoever is running your App run it on a rooted device

hot ivy
#

Indeed, my other device (Lenovo tablet) is not rooted.

marsh juniper
#

I'd say if you can get your hands on one more device, either rooted or not, for testing that would probably give you the necessary confidence based on that test.

hot ivy
#

oh, okay
I got it

marsh juniper
#

๐Ÿ‘

hot ivy
#

Thank you very much for your assistance.

marsh juniper
#

Sure thing

hot ivy
#

So, can I consider that the error in obtaining location information might just be an "early return" and may not necessarily be related to location permissions? Could the root cause be that my device is already rooted?

marsh juniper
#

Yeah that is my understanding.

hot ivy
#

Alright, I will also test on a few different devices. Perhaps I can obtain a non-rooted version of the operating system from the tablet's technical support for testing.

Thank you very much for your assistance; this gives me some direction in troubleshooting.

Have a great day!๐Ÿ˜€

You too!
