Assuming the customer (or subscription) has a default payment method set, and you wait 1h for the invoice to finalize, then yes the invoice will automatically become paid

so we are at 5:12 PST (next year), and subscription renewal was scheduled on 5:11 (next year)
so shall we move the clock itself by 1 hour?
we saw invoice created on 5:11 (next year) as expected
but its only created not paid

The invoice stays in draft for an hour before finalizing, if the invoice was created at 5:11 PST then you'd want to move the clock by an hour to 6:11 or later time
It should auto finalize and attempt to pay then
