I was wondering if the equivalent without a schedule was possible? I'm guessing if it was, that would require us to manually set the billing date and keep track of that ourselves?

If the changes is in the future date, then Subscription Schedule will be required.

Alternatively, you may design your own scheduling batch in your system and change Subscription directly without using Subscription Schedule

yeh kind of guessed that was the case, being pestered about alternatives because apparently there is some holdup with changing our account to be able to use schedules. But that kind of confirms my suspicions. Thanks for helping with my somewhat vague question
