If you're using us_bank_account those accumulated balances should be looped into the card balance

the only funds that would be under the bank_account balance would be older bank account transactions using our legacy flows

Very good, that helps. Makes it simpler for me too since I am using manual payouts from the platform account - think this means I don't have to worry about choosing a source, looks like all the funds will be in the card source type since our users will by paying by card or us_bank_account

If you don't specify a source_type when creating a payout from the platform account, is that an error or will it pull funds from the card source (or any available source)?

It should pull funds from the card source by default I believe
