we are planning to launch recurring
but for existing users we want them to just turn on Recurring and enter their payment details

Are you a developer that has integrated Stripe end to end and it fully works for one-time payments already? If so, what exactly do you use? Can you give me some detailed context?
I have already integrated subscription and integrated API. Right now we are using Stripe Checkout Where i have added "subscription " as payment mode for recurring . We have our own custom product so all that integration already done.
Now I want my existing customer to click on link and enter their payment detail for next renewal.
Because before we launch this feature there are many users who already had taken plan. Now I want them to enter details to turn on recuring
I'm sorry the way you frame things is really strange. There's no "turn on recurring"
But if all you want is to have your Customers come and enter card details you can use the CustomerPortal I just linked you to
I'd recommend carefully going through the doc and playing with it in Test mode.
But the Portal can not start a Subscription. This is impossible.
I want to help but you seem to be jumping many steps at once and not really understanding yet the overall set up and product space
No problem , I don't want to start subscription from portal . I just want user to save card data.
Can I pass Products details from Website to customer portal ?
Why would you pass Product details if all you want is to save card data though?

Really pause, spend 30 minutes using in Test mode. It will be drastically faster than this back and forth! We're definitely happy to answer specific questions but I think the next step is for you to try the product now

i have started working on customer portal
just one question , doc says customer_id is required .
If we don't have customer Id , is there a way to allow new user using email address to add new customer and get customer_id

There isn't a way to create a Customer using the Customer Portal. You would need to create one with an email ahead of time.
