do you mean apply a coupon to the next invoice?
No, the flow is:
User subscribes to annual subscription, goes to cancel immediately, likely because they didnt realize what they were getting into. We want to offer them the first year at 50% off
so it would adjust the first payment and refund the balance
What status is the invoice in? If it has been paid already then you can't apply a discount to it.
You'll need to create a credit note/refund instead
so there is a way to paritially refund the user?
