Hello! Feel free to keep responding in this thread
hi
This is working and payments are working BUT my partners can see my account and all payments and private info of other partner accounts
can I hid my account actiivty from my partners?
@west falcon are you there?
yup i'm here - I'm just talking to multiple folks at once so responses aren't always immediate
What do you mean by "partners"? Are these additional users who have access/logins tied to that account?
Or is this somethign else?
They are other Stripe accounts I am connecting to
I am connecting my account to theirs
so I can provide payments on my platform for them
Gotcha - so as far as I know, there's no way to hide that information from those partners
so let me ask you. If I add them to my account instead of me adding to thiers is that the correct way to do it?
So I can see thier information but I am not added to theirs? I need the correct way to set this up
I cannot have my customers seeing each other activity in my account. That is not good and I am surprised Stripe would allow for that
Can you provide the best way for me to accompolish what I am trying to accomplish? I have dozens of Stripe account (my customers) who use my platform for youth sports registration. I provide the registration tools and Stripe does payment. I do not want my customers to see my actiivity in my accoutn and other customer activity as well. What is best way to do this and am I doing something wrong?
Let's back up for a second
ok
Am I understanding you right that you are connecting your account to the accounts of your customers?
yes
but when I do that they can see my account in theirs
as a connected account
Yeah so you shouldn't be doing that
Typically with a connect integration you want your customers to be connected to your platform, not the other way around
Yes I understand that but then how do I deal with the fact my company earns 1%. The funds come in from the purchase. I send out 99% to the customer and Stripe charges me not them. Then I lose money on the transaction
Stripe takes 3% and I will be losing money on each transaction. Is there a way to pass the Strip fee off to the account conneting to mine?
What kinds of accounts are you working with? I assume these are standard connected accounts?
Yes. right now they are standard accounts
but I can change to whatever to get this set up correctly.
With standard accounts typically you'd do a direct charge, so the payment is created on the connected account and you can specify a fee that gets sent back to your account
And with direct charges the connected account is the one being charge the stripe fee
take a look at this chart: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/direct-charges#flow-of-funds-with-fees
Ok thank you very much. This is very helpful. So you are saying stay with Standard accounts, connecting to my platform then set up to take the Stripe Fees. Do you feel this is best practice for my situation using Standard Accounts or are custom or express better?
If you're planning on using direct charges (the doc I shared) then you'll want to be using Standard accounts
ok. Is Standard account the best way to do what I am do? Does Custom or Express offer anything similar or better to accompolish what I am looking to do?
It really depends on what you're trying to model
Given what you've mentioned about wanting the stripe fee charges to your connect accounts, direct charges + standard sounds like a good option
but there's a lot of different factors that you'll need to consider
If you haven't read this doc comparing the different account types yet, I'd highly recommend reading it through https://stripe.com/docs/connect/accounts
ok thanks so much. We will look into this and get it set up. I will reach out if we have more questions. Thakns for your help
