  2. a new regular card payment is created ,
  3. and then cancel the authorization status, is that okay? There are no additional fees or anything, right?

why would you do it that way?

but no I don't think there are extra fees, but you're attempting two charges, which means there is twice the chance of a decline. But it's fine overall.

so in general you want to minmise how many charges you attempt so there are less of them that might decline
