Unfortunately there's no way around the 7-day hold. The only workaround is to put additional holds on the card for another 7 days after the previous 7-day hold expires

so for this, do I need to revalidate the user's card details, ensuring that the card has 3D Secure enabled?

Not necessarily. If you use a Setup Intent to setup the card for future usage, you can place as many holds on it as you want: https://stripe.com/docs/payments/save-and-reuse
