Hi 👋 since you're working with Standard Connected Accounts, am I correct in assuming you're using Direct Charges as recommended for that type of Connected Account?

Gotcha, so how are you envisioning passing the funds to your shipping aggregator?

What I'm currently thinking is you'll want to adjust what you're collecting for your Platform's application fee, so that it includes what you need to pay your shipping aggregator as well as your typical fee, and then send the funds to your shipping aggregator.

Thanks Toby, thats the tricky bit unfortunately. Instead of the flow of money going directly to the seller > then to my platform account > then me paying the shipping aggregator; Our shipping aggregator is wanting to be paid directly at the point of transaction on the platform.

That won't be possible with Direct Charges, they aren't meant for splitting payments between multiple parties.

Separate Charges and Transfers is our closest flow to what you're describing, but even with that the funds settle on the Platform and you then have to trigger the Transfers to move those funds to the associated Connected Accounts.

Great, thanks for sharing that. You explain it well.

Based on the above rules, My workarounds are (if technically possible):

  1. Have the shipping aggregator connect their stripe account into my platform. At the point of purchase the funds transfer to the seller, and then the payment is transferred to the aggregators account (for shipping) and my account (for comission).

  2. The funds transfer to the Sellers account and then comission + shipping is transffered to my platforms stripe account. However, when the funds are transferred to me, they are received as two disctint payments - one for the comission, and one for this shipping. This way I can automatically allocate and pay all shipping payments to the aggregator easily.

could any of the above options work ?

Neither of those are possible.

For 1; it's not possible to split the funds from the Connected Account to two destinations, your Platform Account is the only account that can receive a portion of those funds.

For 2; the application fee will be moved to your account as a single payment, it is not possible to split it.
