I see the email field near the top of the screen, is that the Link Authentication Element or is that your own email collection field? If the latter, are you then updating the Payment Element with the value that is being entered in the email field?

That's our own collection field and it is not updating the Payment Element.

Is this new? I have not had to do that in the past. The way I read this "Link authentication in the Payment Element allows you to collect your customer’s email addresses directly in the Payment Element with no additional integration work required." makes me think that the payment element will handle email for me.

I think the issue here is that the Payment Element isn't aware of the email provided above. In the example you linked to above the approach would be to create the Payment Element and specify the email at that time, but you don't have it yet.

The behavior also varies for US accounts vs. other countries. You mentioned this worked as expected before; are you using a Stripe account in a different country by chance?

I'm not, this has been US focused. Last week the payment element component had a bit of text under it that you could click and submit your email to link a card.

I haven't been providing an email to the payment element it's been capturing it as a part of this functionality i've described.

So is this working with one Stripe account but not another? Or is this not working now where it worked before on the same Stripe account?

We've confirmed this is an issue on our end and we're working on it now.

Not sure if you're still around, but we're still working on this. Don't have an ETA yet, but hopefully we'll have it figured out and solved soon. Once we fix the issue you should see things go back to normal without any changes on your end.
