Hmm, typically folks use connected accounts when the platform needs to send money to the connected account's banks

Does your app allow the customers to send the funds back once you charge them?

If not, I don't see a use for the connected account. You can just create a customer, charge them for a specific amount and maintain the balance information yourself.
