is there perhaps some other way to keep the data on stripe in-sync with our application data regarding these out_of_band payments?

I can imagine that this is a common scenario for many other applications. Without these being in-sync we could not use Stripe's reports and revenue recognization tools

If i'm not mistaken, that resource does not mention how to handle out_of_band payments that happen outside of stripe?

Yeah I guess. Not sure why you'd want to account for funds received outside of Stripe

Well the idea would be to use Stripes reporting and revenue recognition features to offer our connected accounts financial reports and data. But when these do not include the out_of_band payments, these would not be very useful
