You can update any Stripe object with metadata, either with the dashboard or with the API. What exactly is the issue?

My dev can't find it in the API documentation on how to add this specific point (in this case the invoice number) to the export.

Sorry, I checked again - sorry for the confusion. So we want to store an "Invoice Number" that comes from us (from our invoices) on the payment in the Stripe API so that we have a reference in Stripe to which invoice the payment belongs when you go to the payment list in Stripe. Where do we have to store the invoice number so that you can clearly see which invoice the payment belongs to in the Stripe Dashboard?

It's completely up to you. Maybe you want to add it to the PaymentIntent object? If so, update your PaymentIntent's metadata with https://stripe.com/docs/api/payment_intents/update

How can we view the metadata for paid invoices in the Stripe Dashboard so that we can see a reference of our own invoice number? We issue our own invoices and do not use Stripe invoices. Only Stripe Checkout is used for payment processing and set payments received to 'Paid' in our system. If you see the metadata in the dashboard easily I will add the invoice number in addition to the uuid, so that it ends up in the metadata of the payment intent. Is this possible?

You can see the metadata in the Dashboard for most objects. If you don't use Stripe Invoices, what objects are you creating and how? Could you please share an example ID?
