thanks, I figured. Thing is that I'm using my connect account for my woocommerce stripe payments gateway and then the same secret key for another plugin to let my marketplace vendors create connect accounts with.... and I keep getting that error

yeah you can't use that same key. You need to get the key from your API keys in your own Dashboard instead

If you use the Secret API key you see in the Dashboard, it will work fine

I'm saying that's the only secret api key I have -- it doesnt look like there's one set for a standard account and another for connect

so i've only put that one key in both spots and get that error

Unfortunately, this means you aren't setting the API key properly in those plugins but I can't really tell why. I'd recommend talking to the devs of both plugins to figure out what is causing this issue and they can help you

Usually WooCommerce has their own flow for collecting keys. Also usually you have 2 separate Stripe accounts for this

Because I got a stripe account, and then I set up connect.... and then now I have one api key....

so instead I should have one stripe account for woocommerce to collect payments and then create and entirely different stripe connect account for the vendor payouts?

Well no, that would never work if the vendor payouts are supposed to come from the woocommerce payment

Please, work with the developers of your plugin. I'm sorry, I want to help, but this seems to be some advanced set up linked to your plugins which I would know nothing abbout here unfortunately

theyre not. woocommerce is how I accept payments, the other plugin and connect is how I payout the vendors
