Based on what you've described so far, I don't the behavior you're describing is unexpected. I'm assuming you're talking about confirming the pending_setup_intent that is created when you create a Subscription, and are canceling the 3DS modal that appears when completing that. In that case it is expected for the Subscription to remain in a trialing status.
