It was actually more of a generic question. The first sentence says new invoices are generated but payments aren't attempted, but the second sentence says new invoices are generated and payments are attempted. They seem to contradict each other 🤔 .

Ah I see what you mean - let me clarify

The second sentence is wrong - invoices for unpaid Subscriptions will stay as drafts because auto-advance is disabled

I see some payment attempt failed and it was changed from past_due to un_paid in Sep 13 2022, but that's too long ago for me to see details log

I think it's because of exhausted retry on its Invoice, that is mentioned in https://stripe.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/overview#failed-payments

Yea but looks like that invoice was eventually voided. So in a scenario like this, is it even possible to turn this subscription back to active since there's no open invoice to even pay offf?

Umm it is considered as the most recent one, and Subscription will only be activated again if it's paid.
