Hello! The server-driven Terminal integration is a lot simpler, a lot more flexible, and has fewer networking issues to contend with.
Oh ok, thanks. So it's just the preferred integration in general then. I was just a little confused because the Stripe Reader S700 also supports it but there wasn't any note about recommending it for that.
The S700 is pretty much brand new and not all the docs are up to date regarding that reader yet. I'll flag that gap internally!
Which specific page of the docs are you looking at?
Ah that makes sense, thanks! This page https://stripe.com/docs/terminal/payments/collect-payment?terminal-sdk-platform=server-driven
Flagged, thank you!
Ok great, thanks.
I'm just reading over all the docs and planning out this integration. I'm a little confused about the simulated readers. I can see how to connect a simulated reader, that makes sense. But how does connecting to a simulated reader allow us to test anything? I don't see any way, for example, to simulate that a card was just charged. Or any way to control what is happening in the simulated reader. What am I missing?
In Step 2 here there's a note at the top about how to simulate a cardholder tapping or inserting their card into a simulated reader: https://stripe.com/docs/terminal/payments/collect-payment?terminal-sdk-platform=server-driven#process-payment
