You will not be able to get the underlying/actual payment method details of Link.

Wouldn't that adversely affect our ability to determine fraud though?

#

Also, is there a link to the documentation that explains this?

Link itself is a payment method and acts as a wrapper of all other saved payment methods and doesn't expose underlying payment method used

#

We don't have a doc explaining that

#

This is a good feedback and I'll share with the team

Hmm, that just brings up more questions... is Stripe responsible for any disputes then, since it is not a card payment, from our point of view?

Stepping in here and for that disupute part, could you clarify with Support?

 Have a non-technical question, account issue, or need one-on-one support?
We wish we could help, but this community is focused on developers and technical discussions. Our support team will be able to assist you better than we can: https://support.stripe.com/contact

Sure. Since Link hids the underlaying source, we are unable to get any information, even the fingerprint. We have a custom machine learning algorithm, based on our prior data, that does a great job of flagging fraudulent payments.

But since Stripe is not sharing this data, our algorithm will not be able to work to its full potential, as the card is pretty big part of it.

Is Stripe accepting liability for any chargebacks from Link payment methods?

#

And, as a tangent to that... when we use a SetupIntent to capture future payments with Link, how do we know the underlaying payment has not expired since it was added?

Re expiring: I believe Link app will handle it and if it's expired, the Link component will stop the customer on the UI

Sorry, I meant for when we have a SetupIntent and will do a future charge with Link.

#

i.e. there is no user interaction

It could be error with expired card, yes.

Re: chargeback/dispute I think your question is a fair and good feedback. Please reach out to Support team for clarification
