Yes your last suggestion where you just create the session in setup mode is what I would recommend in this case (especially if you don't know the end date/time of the waiting list)
Thank you for your quick reply!
Do you think another way is possible? Because in this scenario the user will not see the plan details, which are provided in the Portal by Stripe.
Thank you again for your helpfulness.
Will you know ahead of time at what point they'll leave the waitlist? Or is that completely unknown at checkout time
By "will leave" do you mean that a user might want to get off the waiting list before the sub becomes active, or if we know what the date will be when we activate the user's sub?
In the second case, never more than 7 days.
No, unfortunately not
Gotcha
Yeah your last suggestion is what I'd recommend. Given the constraints, that would be your best bet
Instead, if I knew the exit date from the waiting list, it would be good to use scheduled subscription, right?
Yeah
But those aren't compatible with Checkout
So really if you need to use Checkout, then setup mode is the route to go here
Perfect, all clear. You were very helpful, thank you.
No problem
Sorry, one more question. Is it possible, to send the user to the Portal but have the subscription not be active once they hit the subscribe button? So I could activate it at a later time?
If you use a trial
But otherwise, no
You could just trial for 1 week
And then later update the subscription to end the trial immediately when you want them off the waitlist
