in the logs, it first says the paymentIntent did not succeed, but then it did somehow. Our development Setup is

  1. Confirm Payment
  2. Create Booking -> Here we check again whether the pi succeded. Which didn't. So we did not create a booking.
  3. Customer got still charged...

But yes you need to take into account someone who try to pay, fails, and then they re-try and this time it works.
