If I understand the documentation correctly, this feature is currently in beta and only affects test mode
Which documenation, exactly? Can you share a link?

Ah gotcha ok no, this is live and used for express & standard accounts in the US.

The test mode note is saying you can use this in test mdoe yourself (outside of Connect Onboarding) but for live mode you need to contact us.

As for the fees, I suspect there is not a connection fee for express & standard accounts during onboarding because that's a Stripe-owned relationship, but please contact our support team if you need that confirmed.

Ok, I'll check with them on fees. On a more technical note, you normally get to manage the relevant permissions when you set-up Financial Connections (i.e. balance checking). This is implemented automatically for Express onboarding, so I don't think we can manage the permissions (and it seems to request every permission). Am I missing something? I feel sure we'll get pushback about balance checking and other things that shouldn't be needed for paying out funds to the connected accounts.

No, for express account you don't manage the payout account, Stripe does, so that's not available to you
