Gotcha. The easiest way to change the Billing Cycle Anchor for an active Sub is to set a trial period: https://stripe.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/billing-cycle#changing
That would be the way to change to a June - June Subscription
To charge in June but keep on an Aug - Aug Subscription is much more complicated and I wouldn't recommend it.

Okay, that's great. Can you explain a little bit how that would work? Would I set a trial date in June and invoice immediately?

Basically you just set a trial until when you want the Subscription to newly be billed at. So you just trial until June 1 for example and then on June 1 the Subscription will bill again and now it will bill June 1 to June 1 from now on

It might help to do this in the dashboard first and then write it using the API once I understand the flow. Where in the dashboard would I update the sub to trial until a certain date?

Well yeah I definitely recommend doing this in test mode first to ensure it has the desired behavior. And you can test it end-to-end with Test Clocks: https://stripe.com/docs/billing/testing/test-clocks
But in the Dashboard there should be an "update Subscription" option where you can then add a trial period.

I can't seem to change the "Bills on" date to June 1 - it's locked on May 31. Any ideas what affects that?
