Hi there!
You want users to be able to add discount to their existing subscriptions in the customer portal?

not exactly. I want users to be able to update their subscription by buying a product that has a discount set
like if we have created a coupon in the dashboard and applied it to a specific product, I want that to show if the user selects that product in the portal
This is what I mean when I say "I would expect it as an option for each product within the portal.features.subscription_update.products list" I'd expect an option to set a discount for each individual product or something

There should be an option to add a promo code in the customer portal. But you want the promo code to be prefilled?

we could maybe use that if thats an option. I was just hoping to show set discounts naturally and not have to add a promo code

You can't automatically apply a discount. But users will be able to enter a promo code just before they confirm the the change (see screenshot above).

so this isn't something people run into? the fact the the Checkout allows you to see a discount on a product, but the Portal session doesn't allow you to see any discounts applied to specific products?

I know if a coupon is already attached to a customer it will show, I just want to show the discounts without attaching anything

That's not something the customer portal supports today unfortunately.
Typically folks build their own UI once they get to a point where Customer portal isn't customizable to their liking 😅
