Hi there, no emails are sent in test mode. So this feature can only be tested out in live mode.

Actually, I have one more question - when a user updates their payment details using this form, the card is charged and added to their account, but it's not set as default. Is there a way to set always set it as default if they are using the form? (I know we can change the default card for the user via the API/dashboard, I wonder about the form)

the one that is sent as part of prevent failed payment email, the Stripe's default one
