@cold tusk that's definitely common and supported. The main "risk" here is that you will encounter more declines when you are approving the customer and ready to collect the payment and you will need to build some custom logic to bring them back to your app/website to pay with a different card and/or handle 3DS for example

Okay cool, yeah some declines would be expected but it's quite low volume so I'm thinking it's probably okay, will look into logic for 3DS etc. Is https://stripe.com/docs/payments/accept-a-payment-deferred the best way to do it?

not really no, you mostly want to use Checkout in setup mode. See https://stripe.com/docs/payments/save-and-reuse?platform=checkout
