This is likely that the initial SSN verification didn't passed and additional identification documents was required. Since the onboarding page is hosted by Stripe, I'm afraid it's not possible to request for identification documents in the account creation request.

I'd recommend sharing your feedback to Support https://support.stripe.com/contact about this matter.

Ok - How about the SSN issue? The onboarding process only requests the last 4 digits. Invariably, I end up needing to provide the full number later. Any chance that I could just be able to provide the full number during the initial form?

From the integration point of view, it's not possible to control how SSN is collected over API.

This chat is focused on developers and technical integration questions, and I don't have expertise about how the information collected in Stripe hosted onboarding. I'd suggest checking with Stripe Support whether it's possible to collect full SSN in Stripe hosted onboarding page.
