Sorry about the wait. From the dashboard ->create subscription (cs). Then the steps outlined above.

In the customer object, the card is assigned [default_source] => card_1N4WEsGxG8m2870Ul62dqSaH but invoice_settings->default_payment_method is blank

With Dashboard support, it might be better to reach out to support. However, let me try to reproduce this.

Yeah, that looks to be expected here. The Dashboard and the API work differently and they do not mirror exactly.

Yes, the card would be on the default_source and not on invoice_settings->default_payment_method.

You'd need to use the API to set invoice_settings->default_payment_method.
