Since you schedule to downgrade to quantity of 4 on 6/14, the change in quantity will only happen on 6/14. On 6/1, the quantity still remains at 6.
On 7/1 which is after the quantity change, it will prorate the usage of 6/1 to 6/13 with quantity of 6 and 6/14 to 6/30 with quantity of 4.
Could you share what your expected behaviour to be?
Yes - expected behavior would be that since I input the downgrade in advance (prior to 6/1 billing) this would occur:
- 6/1 - invoiced for prorated value of 6/1 - 6/13 at qty 6 and the prorate value of 6/14 - 6/30 at qty 4
- 7/1 - invoiced for full value of qty 4
I don't understand why the proration occurs in the month after the change is set to take place
I see. Since the subscription schedule only applies in the future, the proration will only take effective after the subscription is changed.
I'm afraid it's not possible to have the proration before the scheduled subscription changes.
Ok - are there any Stripe-approved workarounds to correct the behavior to what I would like?
The other option would be to have a policy change on our end. If we change the subscription on the first of the following month, does it bill for the correct value? example: started billing on 5/11 at qty 6, aligned to the first. On 6/1 changed qty to 4. On 6/1, I would get billed for qty 4, correct?
If you wish to get proration before the scheduled subscription changes, that will not be possible.
If you schedule to change the subscription in the next cycle with that aligns with billing cycle anchor, then yes. You will be billed with quantity of 4.
Understood - thank you for your help
