Yeah it currently isn't possible to update metadata of a PI that is in a status of requires_capture.

#

This is an old validation that is in place which we are actually actively working on removing.

I don't have a specific timeframe but you should be able to do this in the near-future

Can you give me an example where you updated a PI's metadata when it was in requires_capture?

i cant give a specific example, but i'm seeing the pi payload that comes back from modify requests with requires_capture status with successes

As far as I know this has always been impossible
