It depends on the billing_cycle_anchor for the subscription. I believe the invoice would be generated approximately an hour after the trial ends.

Thanks! I read through that doc and proration would work. An additional similar question, would monthly invoices still generate (at $0/mo) for subscriptions? If not, is there way to configure this? We wanted to tie some tax information that we'll be losing each month to the generated invoice

Yes $0 invoices are still generated when the subscription is trialing
