Hi there
Hoi
Did you enable automatic tax on your Checkout Session creation?
Or your Payment Link?
And are you registered to collect tax in your Dashboard?
let me share screenshot.
Okay so that screenshot is of tax rates
Which you would apply directly yourself
This is different than Stripe Tax where we would calculate automatically for you
actually you can check here - https://donate.stripe.com/bIYbLt8la1Wk2Ag6op
You're TIP will help me host various projects on the Internet + It will motivate me for creating Projects.
tax is 0.00$
i want to collect tax
i am using stripe inbuilt stripe checkout
are you still looking into this?
Hello! I'm taking over and catching up...
okie
Looks like tax is set up on that link, but it will depend on the address entered. Which countries and/or US states are you registered to collect tax in?
in USA
i registerd for stripe atlas but my business address is in california but my llc is formed in delaware
so i am confused what to do
In here what's listed under Business information > Origin address? https://dashboard.stripe.com/test/settings/tax
Business information
Review your business and product information to enable automatic tax calculation.
Origin address
United States (California)
Default product tax category
General - Electronically Supplied Services
Any electronically supplied good or service.
Include tax in prices
No – Tax is excluded from the price
Okay, so you want to charge tax on top of the price, right?
Okay, so that looks like it's set up right. If you go to https://dashboard.stripe.com/test/products?active=true can you find the Product you're using and give me the prod_ ID that shows up in the top right corner after you click on it?
Thanks! Let me take a look...
okie
Looks like this has three Prices set up, which one are you using for the link above?
If you look at https://dashboard.stripe.com/products/prod_NmLaCmZr9g9abG you can see under Pricing there are three different Prices. Do you know which of those three you used for the donation link you shared above?
Ah, okay, so if you click on the ••• to the right of the View payment link button and choose Edit Price can you change the tax setting there?
Hm, that looks correct I think. Let me check something, hang on...
okie
i did this in tax, correct me if i am wrong.
Those tax rates have nothing to do with automatic tax.
ohkay
I must be missing something. This is configured correctly as far as I can tell. Do you know if California taxes digital goods? Maybe there's just no tax for the product category you selected?
you maybe right
Ah, I think that's the problem. I looked it up and it appears that digital products are exempt.
If you edit the Payment Link and change it to Cash Donation see if that works (although I don't know if donations are taxable either).
But it seems like this should probably be set to Cash Donation.
Any luck with that approach?
