Hi there!

*notify the customer of the change?

chrome sparrow

Not directly. But the customer might get an email for the new invoice or once a new payment us made, depending on your settings.

So the email for the new invoice will that be once they start a new charging period?

#

e.g. they are on a monthly sub, I change price halfway through the month, When would they recieve notifcation

Depends:

  • Are the subscriptions charge_automatically or send_invoice. If charge_automatically, then we don't send the invoice to the user.
  • Did you enable the dashboard setting "email customer about successful payments" (see below)? If so, then user will get an email of the payment made
  • How did you update the price of the subscription exactly? Because some updates will charge the customer immediately, some other will make the customer pay at the next billing cycle

I will have a look at all these settings and get back to you. Thank you

  1. So im pretty sure we have all our users set up as charge_automatically, as it generates and invoices each billing period automatically we dont do anything manually
  2. Successfull Payments is turned on, But does that mean they will only get the email once the pay the new price when at the start of their next billing cycle
  3. We will be using no proration as we just want to swap the users price now ready for the next billing period. They wont need to pay any difference. just want a clean swap at the next billing period

So can I confirm with the above setup that if i were to change the users subscription price halfway through their billing period, with no prorations. They wort have an email saying ive updated it

#

I want to silently update the prices, and for them to just be billed as normal at the start of their new billing period, but just with new price now

They'll receive receipt/invoice once the payment is attempted successfully

We don't send emails just for updating prices, unless there'll be an invoice created or a payment... so yeah according to the details you provided the customer shouldn't receive any email.
