I have a similar problem, and would love to get an answer here too. I'd much rather NOT have to activated a lower environment test account

Unfortunately I think you do need to activate an account with a valid bank account to trigger payouts even in test mode.

But, assuming we do, all of this WILL WORK in Test Mode?
Wanna know that the risk is worth the reward, ya know?
like we have our own safety checks on our end on Stripe APIs and the livemode flag for our non-production environments, but still, it is ever-so-slightly worrying

I can confirm that Payouts in Test Mode will occur and generate related webhook events

However, because we don't actually communicate with a bank, we don't have a delay between when a new payout is generated and when we say it should appear in your bank

That's great news! I have been trying to add a test bank account in test mode, but the test account does not appear to be working
Do you have a link of what bank account we might be able to use?

As I mentioned earlier, you will need to use a valid bank account.

I was hoping we could put a real bank account without activating live mode, but it sounds like that is not an option

Hello! I'm taking over and catching up...
I think all you need to do is add the bank account info. I have a test account that has a real bank account added, but is not activated, and I can change the payout schedule.
Now, that said, my test account is very old, so I'm not 100% sure this will still work the same way.

Actually, hang on. What happens when you go to https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/payouts on one of your test accounts? You're unable to change the payout schedule there?

We see the option to "Add bank account". But when we use one of the test accounts it doesn't work. But we haven't tried a live bank account, as we wanted to know first what we woudl be getting into

Oh, right, because without an account configured the money will just pile up in the account, correct?

Right. Since we are testing most in test mode, I am guessing that during Payout, Stripe will go through the process, but obviously nothing will happen with the bank account

Our finance department tried to add a bank account, but was presented with a message saying that the stripe account needs to be activated

I was just able to add a bank account to a new test account without activating the account.
I did have to verify the bank account change via an email.
