Yep, those are the steps to follow, at least according to Firebase docs. You can check to see if there are any logs for your update attempt: https://firebase.google.com/docs/extensions/manage-installed-extensions?platform=console#view-logs
If there are logs, I recommend including these in your request to Firebase support

If firebase refers me to the extension developer where do I get extension support from stripe?

Good question. I assume they should be able to unblock the update issues, or at least point you in the right direction. Stripe is deprecating the Firebase extension soon (no date at the moment) so, depending on what they find to be the issue with the update, we may not be able to resolve.

That's such a wonderful extension. It's very disappointing to hear they're deprecating it.

Deprecation wouldn't happen without ample notice, too.
