Can you link the page you're looking at?
Digging. Will circle back
Thanks you ๐
I know this sounds odd, but can you clear the cookies you have for Stripe and try viewing that page again?
And an incognito browser doesn't show it either?
Here are my card settings just to make sure
Are they showing here too? --> https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/paymentmethods
Nothing in incognito either
Yes
Hello! I'm taking over and catching up...
Can you go to https://rsolomakhin.github.io/pr/gp2/ and click on the Buy button there, then back out using the arrow in the top left? After that try https://stripe.com/docs/stripe-js/elements/payment-request-button?client=html again.
I didn't even get to the back arrow
Oh, interesting. Those errors are not what I would have expected. What version of Chrome are you using?
Hmmmmm...
Pretty weird right ?
I wouldn't have asked you if I didn't confirm that it was not specific to my machine or my browser
If you go to chrome://policy/ and use the filter in the top right is there any policy blocking or preventing payments?
As I said our QA who usually confirms that the google pay option works also doesn't see it anymore
What should I type in the filter ? It's a text input
Try pay
No policies
๐ค
Getting some basic stuff out of the way: is the time and date on your computer correct?
Yep
I feel like it's a chrome update or something that broke it
But it sounds far fetched
If you go to chrome://serviceworker-internals/ and search that page for pay.google.com do you see an entry starting with Scope: https://pay.google.com/gp/p/?
There is no text on the page that matches even pay
Huh. That's... wow. Okay, let me ponder that for a bit... ๐
Hahaha sorry for the headache. Waiting on your input ! ๐ฅฒ
I'm honestly running out of ideas. I've never seen Chrome in a state like this. How many people did you say this was impacting?
I asked the devs in my team, the QA and the product manager so a total of 8
And they all see the pay.google/about error in the console
But all in your company/org? It feels like some kind of policy being applied to all of your browsers. Are all of the computers managed by the same company/org?
We are all in the same company but the computers are not managed by a central system and some people are in Paris and others in Montreal
I also tried to change my network to see if it made a difference
You and I are on the exact same version, and it's working normally for me... is there anything else in common across the people impacted? Maybe a browser extension you all have installed?
Hmm yeah that's possible le met check
For what it's worth I'm also seeing the oss-site redirect from "https://pay.google.com/about/" to "https://pay.google/about/" not allowed for payment manifests. error, but it's not preventing the button from working.
Yeah that's what I thought
And just to confirm, some of the impacted people do not have this "Your browser is managed by zeffy.com" in Chrome's about page?
I tested on a browser on my personal computer
Question: it says for Google Pay to appear you need Chrome + Google Pay enabled and Link not authenticated
I've never used link so I don't think I'm authenticated
And anw I cleaned the cookies so should be good right ?
On your personal computer that's not managed, what does https://rsolomakhin.github.io/pr/gp2/ show?
Yeah, if you've never used Link and cleared your cookies that should not be the issue.
Same error
Any browser extensions in common?
I removed everything on my personal computer (I only had a few)
I really have no idea how that's possible
Another information we have is that the rate of people paying on our website with Google Pay has significantly reduced in % of payments
Yeah, this is really strange.
Starting when?
We can see a clear drop beginning of March
And it's been consistently low since then
Can you link me to your page where Google Pay should show up? Curious to know if it will appear for me or not.
Yep, it shows up for me as expected:
Ugh
Another colleague just tested and he can see it too
Man I don't get this ...
Could there be a network configuration that's blocking access to some Google URLs/IPs?
I don't think so because I tried from different networks
Anw I have to go right now. I'll try to dig the subject a bit more tomorrow. Thanks for your help anyways at least it helped put aside some questions !
Yeah. Honestly at this point you might want to try contacting Google; it doesn't seem to be a Stripe-specific issue.
Actually, let's confirm that. Do you see options here? https://developers.google.com/pay/api/web/guides/resources/demos
If those don't work then it's not Stripe-specific.
And those work when clicked?
Yes !
Thanks for checking. Trying to think of next steps here then...
Will the thread still be open tomorrow ?
We'll want to close this one at some point. If you have to go you can write in to our support team and I can grab the ticket
Or you can just message tomorrow and mention this thread and my colleagues can refer back to it if you just want to keep doing live troubleshooting
